NC Central University’s band is scheduled to be part of the 2011 Rose Bowl Parade. Good for them; I’m sure it will be an incredible experience. The university needs $500,000 for the trip and WalMart — the company the Left loves to condemn — has already donated shipping valued at $100,000. But that’s not enough. The major gifts manager tells the News & Observer they still need “a big fish” to fund the rest of the $300,000 tab.

That’s ironic. The campus that was a hotbed of support for President Obama in 2008 — and which will host tonight’s live feed of the president’s campaign remarks from Wisconsin designed to energize Democratic college-aged voters for the midterm elections — is seeking help from the well heeled. You know — the fat cats and those who don’t pay their fair share.

I have no doubt that a benefactor(s) will step forward to ensure the NC Central band heads to California. Wealthy Americans, whether as individuals or heads of corporations or foundations, are very generous people.
