In today’s Wall Street Journal, Kimberly Strassel has one of those columns that remind you that enormous danger lurks in the political woods. What she is writing about is the aggressive agenda Big Labor has and how both Clinton and Obama are apparently entirely captive to it. You can — and should — read her column here.

What’s so bad about the Big Labor agenda? Well, it’s anti-competitive, anti-freedom, and pro-government expansion. The union bosses are the “let’s kill the goose that lays the golden eggs” types — they want to siphon away more wealth for themselves and obtain more power for themselves even though the long-run consequences of their foolish notions will be declining prosperity for everyone. Remember that the labor union heads saw nothing wrong with Britain in the mid-70s. They were happy and strong while the nation’s economy was crumbling.

Unions are fundamentally parasitic organizations that thrive only where government assists them. They’re preparing to spend lavishly this year to make sure they have politicians in power who will do exactly that.
