The closer you look at the Bobcats, the more it seems that they just can’t do anything right, including simple tasks like designing a jersey. So yes, the Bobcats have new uniforms, which feature a dark blue and even less orange. As the Charlotte Observer explains:

Switching the primary uniform color to navy blue is partly about making merchandise. Whitfield said the various companies that make mock jerseys, T-shirts, hats, etc., found it difficult to replicate the shade of blue on Bobcats uniforms.

It became obvious, Whitfield said, that the team couldn’t get consistency from their vendors. They were advised by clothing manufacturers the solution was switching to a more standard color, like navy blue.

Isn’t that something the team should have figured out before they picked the previous blue? Okay, maybe that’s asking too much from a franchise who’s original road unis were orange and have been ranked among the worst ever in NBA history.

Bonus observation: The home uniforms now say “Cats” and not “Bobcats.” The team says this has nothing to do with Bob Johnson no longer owning the team. Not sure I believe that. Will say that the difference in length and font size between “Charlotte” and “Cats” is quite jarring between the road and home uniforms.
