That’s one rumor out there in the Inter-tubes — the semi-legit Hoopsworld.

Basically the idea is that the Bobcats are aching for more size and would take on McCants — yet another wing, and one out of Minnesota’s regular rotation at that — in order to land Jason Collins, a legit 7-footer who nonetheless is averaging all of two (2) points on 15 minutes of action for the Timberwolves.

Previous rumors had Gerald Wallace headed to the Clippers for Chris Kaman. Basically, expect a lot of this chatter as the entire league understands that Larry Brown is not happy with his current mix and that the Bobcats pretty much have to make a serious playoff run — probably a successful one — in order to ramp up their gate. The franchise literally cannot afford another also-ran year in attendance.

Update: Why is it news that the Bobcats have the NBA’s worst TV ratings? Only if you believed the clap-trap about the move to FOX Sports South from News14 having a positive impact could you be surprised that ratings are actually down 65 percent from last year. The truth is that FOX offered the package to local cable outlets and most declined outside of Charlotte. Even DirecTV/Dish said no as they had no interest in paying the NBA’s out-of-market surcharge outside of metro market. Upshot is a 0.425 local average household rating sounds about right.
