What’s the first thing people want to see after the selections are made on Selections Sunday? A freakin’ bracket. Is there one on The Herald-Sun’s Web site? Even a link to somebody else’s if they’re too lazy or incompetent to do their own? No. Not as of 7:15 p.m. as the whole Free World is talking about the matchups.

What are these people thinking?

UPDATE: The News & Observer hasn’t done any better. They have a teaser on their Web site telling readers that “Coming Monday” they can fill out an interactive bracket. No link to a bracket anywhere that I can find. As I’ve said before, no wonder newspapers are losing market share. Or are they just trying desperately line up a sponsor for the bracket page and the reader’s needs be damned?

UPDATE 2: Ah-h-h-h. The Charlotte Observer gets it right. They have a link to a printable bracket on their home page. At least someone is awake at a newspaper switch out there.

UPDATE 3: Argh-h-h-h! Spoke too soon. I downloaded The Charlotte Observer’s pdf bracket and…. IT WAS BLANK? No teams. What the heck are these old-media types thinking. ARE they thinking? is more like it.
