I second John’s recommendation of the Free Market Minute. And to pile on a bit of whining to Karen’s fine analysis, all of the seats I examined prior to purchase are only good for six years. That is, the seats come with all manner of warnings to tell consumers that the seat must be replaced after six years.

I don’t know…but would bet that this limit is set by other do-gooders in the legislative/regulatory community. Combined with the new law requiring 8 year olds to be in a seat, it forces parents to buy multiple seats for each child.
