If the new congressional district maps survive legal scrutiny, the Triangle could see a fascinating political tug of war between two high-profile Democrats. In this News & Observer piece, Rep. Brad Miller says he may run in the 4th district, where his colleague Rep. David Price now holds the seat.

Asked if it came to a possible primary, Miller replied: “I would hope David and I would give it prayerful consideration of what to do. I certainly would run in the district if David does not run. It would be an ideal district for me. It looks like hell, but it includes every part of North Carolina that has been a significant part of my life.”

As for Price’s view, the N&O reports this:

Price, an 11-term congressman, issued a statement Friday saying: “I will be running again in the 4th district and, as I have said from the beginning, look forward to representing the district in whatever form it emerges. I am also working with the other members of our delegation on a challenge in court to the legislature’s statewide map, which we believe is unfair and illegal.”

This is going to be fascinating.
