A report by the National Assessment Governing Board says that test scores and grades “don’t jibe” (unless it is a windy day).
How did this happen? Why are grades higher than test scores? According to the report, “It is unclear whether student performance has improved or whether grade inflation or something else might be responsible.”
Since it just can’t be grade inflation and it surely isn’t performance gains, I’ll take the “something else might be responsible” option.
I blame leprechauns and sprites. Those shifty little devils!
