I noted with interest a young UNCG student speaking in solidarity with the Neighbors of Northeast Greensboro against the reopening of the White Street landfill, noting how many ‘code red’ air quality days Greensboro had approached recently.

The young student might want to read the JLF vice president of research Roy Cordato’s assessment of North Carolina’s air quality. Cordato says “statistics gathered over the past decade show most communities in North Carolina have consistently met stricter ozone and air pollution standards put forth by the EPA in 2008.”

Cordato gets a little help from environmental consultant Joel Schwartz, who says we are “now breathing the cleanest air urban people have ever breathed.”
