The Royal Marines who were held captive by Iran for nearly two weeks are taking a beating for being so submissive during their captivity. The toughest comments came from retired U.S. Army Col. Jack Jacobs, who says it’s the most disgraceful and dishonorable performance he’s ever seen by military personnel:

Meanwhile, the Brits are trying to come to grips with what most see as a disgrace. The papers there are taking great pains to say the marines were under psychological pressure, were isolated from each other and that bad things were said to them.
Tell that to John McCain or Jeremiah Denton, neither of whom saw it as their first duty after capture to do anything or say anything to ensure their safe return home. One of the Royal Marine officers said fighting back was not an option. TownHall blogger Dean Barnett put that into perspective:

“Fighting back was not an option” – Will those words someday be the epitaph of the Western World?

Maybe the Brits should begin recruiting their fighting forces from the ranks of soccer hooligans. At least they are willing to mix it up with foreigners with whom they take offense.
