For any of you who missed last night’s coverage of the British National Elections, I am truly sorry. Our own election coverage is not nearly so entertaining.

Despite there being many contenders for my favorite part of last night’s coverage – including very blunt language exchanged between MPs and anchors, the incomprehensible “Wheel of Party Control,” and the large, ridiculous ribbons the candidates wear denoting their party affiliation – the absolute best was my discovery of a new party. Complete with candidate dressed as Carroll’s Mad Hatter, the Official Monster Raving Loony Party captured my attention and I had to google it.

My favorite part of their platform is as follows:

Our team of experts has decided that Income Tax has not proved popular with the public and will therefore be abolished. It was started in order to finance the Napoleonic war in 1799 and we now believe that the time is right to announce the cessation of hostilities with Napoleon.

Don’t be fooled; the rest of the “Manicfesto” is not nearly so sensible. I highly recommend checking it out.
