High Point Enterprise reports Guilford County Commissioner Bruce Davis is considering a run for mayor:
Davis told the Enterprise that he would make a decision about whether to run for mayor after consulting with his family.
“To go into another campaign — it takes a lot,” he said. “It is something I have not ruled out.”
So far the only announced candidate in the mayor’s race is another Guilford County commissioner, Republican Bill Bencini. A former High Point councilman, Bencini declined to seek re-election as a commissioner earlier this year in part because of his intention to run for mayor. Bencini is serving this year as chairman of the nine-member Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Bernita Sims, who first was elected mayor two years ago, said she’ll announce her intentions closer to the filing period opening next month.
I didn’t think this would be the last we’d see of Davis, especially after he so strongly protested his defeat in the 6th District Congressional primary.
