Yes, but will Cabarrus County Commissioners’ feet swell?

County Commissioner Coy Privette — last seen paying a hooker for sex and refusing to resign — has popped up to tell the Uptown paper of record that the county and the city of Concord are set to rebate 85 percent of the property taxes on Bruton Smith’s new drag strip for the next 40 years. That’s is completely unbelievable — so it is probably true.

Better yet — by which I mean I’m punching myself in the face as I write this — Coy’s fellow commissioners are mad at him for spilling the beans, potentially queering the deal with Smith’s Speedway Motorsports Inc.

“What commissioner Privette is doing is not giving SMI the respect to see the entire agreement instead of reading a part of the agreement in the paper,” Commission Chairman Jay White told the Observer. Gaaaa!

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Bonus Observation: Tom Sorensen declares the drag strip “worth it.” Concord and Cabarrus residents make a note to send your new, higher property tax bills to Tom so that he can pay the difference for you.
