No doubt about it, when Buck picked up a Telecaster he invented modern country music. There was no twang before Buck forced twang on Nashville. Now, listening to his songs reminds you of how contrived “country” has become.

Buck’s songwriting craft always cuts through the chaff, no matter who is doing the song — Beatles, Byrds, or Faron Young. Timeless and classic are over-used but they apply here.

So here’s one dedicated to Brian “Food Stamps” France and his city partners in the ongoing NASCAR sideshow, “I Wouldn’t Live in New York City (If They Gave Me the Whole Dang Town).”
