This week, Don Carrington and Joe Coletti spoke to the Wake County Republican Men’s Club about Gov. Easley’s budget proposal, which relies in large part on $741 million in new taxes to close the gap between the state’s projected revenue and spending. The two also discussed JLF’s work on an alternative budget. On Friday, Chad Adams joined Donna Martinez for a budget debate on NBC 17’s “At Issue.” The show airs Sunday at 11 a.m. Panelists included Dan Gerlach from the Governor’s office, Chris Neely from Americans for Prosperity North Carolina, and Elaine Mejia from the NC Justice Center. One interesting program note: The governor’s proposed budget is so full of taxes that even “At Issue” co-host Cash Michaels, normally a supporter of tax and spend initiatives, took Gerlach to task over the breadth and impact of the new taxes.
