Joseph Coletti attracted media attention during the past week for his analysis of North Carolina’s continuing employment woes and Gov. Beverly Perdue’s spending plan. News 14 Carolina interviewed Coletti for a preview story about Perdue’s budget plan. WTVD, WNCN, News 14 Carolina, and State Government Radio all interviewed him immediately after Perdue unveiled her plan publicly. The Mint Hill Times picked up Coletti’s brief printed reaction to the Perdue plan. The governor presented her budget ideas just four days after North Carolinians learned that the state’s unemployment rate lingered above 11 percent again in March. The Lincoln Tribune published a John Locke Foundation news release featuring Coletti’s reaction to the unemployment news, while N.C. Senate Republicans promoted the same release. Both the News & Observer and Charlotte Observer noted in their unemployment stories that JLF analysts urged lawmakers to lower tax rates in a bid to boost the state’s economy.
