In a previous post it was reported that the New Belgium beer joint would locate in Asheville thanks to $1 million from the One North Carolina pot of taxpayer dollars. Today, the Mountain Xpress reported that the City of Asheville will give the brewery $3.5 million in tax relief and $500,000 in neighborhood infrastructure improvements, which will include accommodations for trucks and more cars as well as compensatory greenways and multimodal paths. “Grants and state funds” are supposed to total around $2.3 million, but the breakdown was not accessible to drive-bies. The city’s role in the recruitment was not mentioned at the grand ceremonies a couple days ago.
