Ross Douthat and Reihan Salam address today in The Weekly Standard the debate over President Bush’s conservatism.

Anyone who’s watched the growth of government in recent years will realize that Bush and the GOP congress have rejected the small-government piece of the conservative pie.

Douthat and Salam suggest we should not be surprised: The president never billed himself as a fiscal conservative.

I’m sure fellow Locker Room experts could generate quite a good debate about the merits of this article’s arguments, along with debate about the merits or deficits of the Bush fiscal policy.

I’ll await your input with interest.
