From the Wall Street Journal comes this foreboding story about what could be looming for New York‘s producers — the very people who fund the city’s nanny state.

The strong showing by Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio in Tuesday’s primary sent many in the business community scrambling for strategies to deal with the self-proclaimed progressive in the weeks before the November general election.

Many business executives fear his proposals—including a tax increase on the wealthy and left-of-center policies—could jeopardize New York’s economic progress of the past two decades.

Others seemed inclined to sit it out. Some are afraid of angering the man who could be the next mayor, and some hope Mr. de Blasio will tack to the right for the general election against Republican nominee Joe Lhota.

If you like what President Obama’s anti-business, anti-wealth, pro-big government policies have done for our country, you will love what could be on the horizon for New York City.
