That’s the title of Kimberly Strassel’s column today. She talks about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its efforts to thwart Democratic plans for one-party rule in Washington.
Strassel writes, “Chuck Schumer, who is leading the Senate effort to turn Democrats into masters of the universe, is livid. All the more so, given he’s spent the past year threatening the business community with dire retribution if it doesn’t support his party.”
Very interesting. Most revealing that this partisan zealot thinks that it is his place, as an elected representative of many people who own and operate businesses, to inflict punishment on them for not agreeing with him. Don’t Democrats believe that democracy is about “representing the people” any more?
Apparently, some of them at least think that the only thing that matters is their power, to be achieved and maintained by any means necessary. Vote fraud, threats to silence opponents, blatant lies — are we turning into a banana republic?
