Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research for Small Business Majority recently conducted a poll. So what? Polls ask leading questions, and respondents lie. This one concludes “small business owners are pragmatic people who understand the seriousness of our country’s current budget crisis,” but says small business owners “believe government can play a role in their success.” That conclusion is based on a “nearly six in ten” majority. The Mountaineer doesn’t bother to mention if that role involves deregulation and lower corporate taxes. The article conveys the impression that rich people, like Big Oil, need to be taxed more because, unlike government, they siphon money and jobs out of the economy.
