Landlords and tenants are unable to negotiate proper rents in order to keep business on Main Street in Hendersonville. Therefore, Karen Shirlin, executive director of the management entity, Downtown Hendersonville, Inc. will be “showing rent calculations to the property owners to give them the information and let them see the numbers.” She will also be inventorying property to figure out what businesses need to occupy it and enhancing relationships between her organization and property owners. Shirlin and Andrew Tate of the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development will discuss economic development tools. Regardless of what history says, strong economies are fostered by governing boards displacing price points from a balance of supply and demand and getting people who don’t want a merchant’s wares to pay for them, anyway.
