It’s not yet official, but according to Sen. Pat Roberts, his state of Kansas has been selected as the home of the new National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility. Butner in Granville County had been on the short list, but opponents were very successful in making their case against the lab.
The outcome of this fight illustrates that North Carolina is now home to lots and lots of NIMBYs — the Not in My Backyard contingent.
