Television viewers from Charlotte to the coast learned details this week about the latest installment of the John Locke Foundation’s By The Numbers report. It details the per-capita costs of local government in North Carolina. News 14 Carolina interviewed Joseph Coletti, JLF Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies, and WNCT ran a short story on the report as well. Cape Fear Business News picked up the Wilmington news release associated with the report; the WWAY Television Web site followed suit. WPTF Radio and the N.C. News Network covered the story, using sound provided from Coletti. The Morganton News Herald and Bayboro County Compass also reported on By The Numbers, and the Pundit House Web site promoted it as well. The High Point Enterprise used one statistic from the report within a story on the approaching Tax Freedom Day. (In fiscal year 2008, North Carolinians paid on average 30 percent of their incomes for local, state and federal taxes, according to the John Locke Foundation.)
