According to this report, a Cabarrus County school representative recently stopped by my quaint alma mater, Clarion University, to recruit graduates for teaching positions. The school system has around 350 job openings.

Clarion produces around 600 education graduates every year, some of which head south to take advantage of the excellent job market for teachers in states like Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Demand for teachers is low in most counties in Pennsylvania, but universities like Clarion continue to churn out hundreds teachers every year.
