Today, my WTSB host, Carl Lamm and I discussed the situation in Syria.  President Obama is expected to address the public and Congress next Tuesday to try to garner support for his plan for military action.  Polls indicate there is little public support for action. The North Carolina Congressional district is largely undecided at this point.  Mr. Lamm and I discussed how important it is for constituents to let their elected officials know how they feel on this and other important issues.  If you’d like to weigh in on whether the US should proceed with military action in Syria, here is contact information for our North Carolina representatives in Washington:

Both Senators have expressed support for military action:

Whenever you contact your elected officials, you can often just leave a message.  So call when it is convenient for you to do so. Remember to state your name and where you live and clearly express your position on the issue, whether you’re for or against. If you’re not sure which district you live in, go here to find out.

I figure it may take you 7 minutes or so to make one call, maybe 15 for 2.  So if you’re into multi-tasking and want to get dinner going while you make your calls, here’s a recipe for moist and flaky salmon that will have you ready for dinner in under 20 minutes.

Sure Thing Salmon – perfect every time!

Fresh salmon filets

Olive oil

Fresh lemon juice

Spray oil

Freshly chopped parsley

Butter

Place salmon filets on a broiler pan or oven proof sheet pan that you’ve sprayed with oil. Drizzle each filet with about a little olive oil and a nice squeeze of lemon juice. Put under broiler for 8 minutes.

Take the salmon out. Close the oven door and turn to 400 degrees.

Squeeze more lemon juice over salmon, scatter chopped fresh parsley over and put a pat of butter on top.

Return to oven and cook for exactly 7 minutes.
