The good news is that in a few weeks, my husband and I will be enjoying the Salvador Dali exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The bad news is that in making air, hotel and car reservations, we’ve been hit with the following charges:
* Airline: $26.48 tax, $18.00 passenger facility fees, and $10 in security fees (okay, I don’t mind paying the September 11th fee).
* Hotel: 14% tax
* Car: $4 state transaction tax, $11.11% concession fee, 2% vehicle license fee, 7% state tax and 2% rental tax
By my figuring, these add-ons total up to about $110 or about 17 percent of the cost.
