“American Idol” is bringing out the capitalist in some UNC Chapel Hill students. Anoop Desai — or NoopDog as he’s known to his friends — has some serious fans who filled a Chapel Hill bar last night to watch his performance on national TV.
Get this. NoopDog already has a merchandising business via this online store. His promoters say it’s a “grassroots effort.” There are t-shirts. And a hat. And a sweatshirt. And stickers. And buttons — 10 pack with stylized image of Noop for just $21.99.
And guess what. It didn’t take a government “stimulus” package to get this little business going. It just took creativity and effort. Folks in Washington could learn from this example.
