Well, not exactly, but if you read the story in today’s Roanoke Herald, you’ll find the following text

Benton, who was city manager when the project started, pointed to opposition to the unique state law which allowed the financing of the theater by the Carolina Journal, a conservative Raleigh-based publication

It’s just plain funny when reporting gets that sloppy.  The real question however is whether taxpayers should be able to see financial statements from the folks they’re paying to finance.  The city of Roanoke Rapids says, “NO”.  The correct answer is always, “YES”.
