Ongoing investigations of Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign activities continue to generate stories for Carolina Journal. The Lincoln Tribune, Watchdog.org, WilsonNCTeaParty.com, and N.C. Senate Republicans all took note of Executive Editor Don Carrington‘s latest report on details surrounding the indictment of a Perdue campaign donor involved with a questionable 2007 campaign flight. A News & Observer article about former Gov. Mike Easley’s controversial Cannonsgate property mentioned Carrington’s work to investigate the deal Easley secured for that property. Senate Republicans promoted more than a half-dozen other CJ exclusives this week: Associate Editor David Bass‘ reports on Gov. Beverly Perdue’s budget plan, her first veto of the 2011 legislative session, a pro-life license plate bill, and education tax credits; Associate Editor Anthony Greco‘s CarolinaJournal.tv story on the governor’s budget; contributor Karen McMahan‘s article on proposed barber pole restrictions; and Managing Editor Rick Henderson‘s examination of state boards and commissions. The Lincoln Tribune and Watchdog.org also picked up Bass’ tax credit story. The Lincoln Tribune published Bass’ story on Perdue’s budget, Carrington’s article on the Global TransPark‘s $38 million debt, contributor Karen Welsh‘s report on a controversial stream reclassification in western North Carolina, and McMahan’s report on the barber pole bill. McMahan’s article sparked a discussion on the WPTF Radio late-morning call-in program. The Heartland Institute’s School Reform News published Associate Editor Sara Burrows‘ article on a recent school choice forum in Raleigh.
