North Carolina state government is using $1 million in federal stimulus money to reclassify existing jobs as “green” jobs. Carolina Journal contributor Karen McMahan‘s report on this dubious process attracted attention from the Greensboro News & Record‘s “Off The Record” blog, the Lincoln Tribune, and N.C. Senate Republicans’ daily press e-mail. The Senate GOP also highlighted this week Associate Editor Anthony Greco‘s reports on a voter identification bill and a bill to protect unborn victims of violence, Associate Editor David Bass‘ article on a proposed Taxpayer Bill of Rights, Associate Editor Sara Burrows‘ exclusive on a bill to reverse the state ban on coastal terminal groins, and a guest Daily Journal column on leadership from Karen Palasek, Director of the E.A. Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders. The Lincoln Tribune and Watchdog.org also picked up Greco’s voter ID story, while the Lincoln Tribune published Bass’ weekly legislative preview and his report on the proposed TABOR bill. The Mooresville Tribune recently published Carolina Journal Radio Co-Host Donna Martinez‘s column about changing mind-sets while changing government budget priorities.
