Wake and Orange County officials are debating possible referendum votes on local sales taxes for transit. Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson discussed the topic this week with Rick and Donna Martinez on WPTF Radio. The Watauga Conservative blog highlighted a CarolinaJournal.tv video clip of Henderson discussing Gov. Beverly Perdue’s apparent misuse of federally embargoed unemployment numbers. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Martinez’s article on “tax me more” funds at the state and federal levels. The Senate GOP also promoted this week Associate Editor David Bass‘ articles on the potential political impact of delayed congressional primary elections and Democrats’ support for a state sales-tax hike during this election year. The N.C. Free Enterprise Foundation also promoted the article on the potential primary delay. A Connecticut high school’s Inklings News quoted from Bass’ recent Education Next report on the federal school lunch program.
