North Carolina Democrats spent much of the past year warning of the horrors associated with proposals to require photo identification for voters. A Carolina Journal article this week from contributor Karen McMahan reminded readers that former Democratic President Jimmy Carter had endorsed photo IDs for voters in 2005. Instapundit, Lucianne.com, RockTheVote.com, and N.C. Senate Republicans all promoted McMahan’s work. The Senate GOP’s daily media email also cited Associate Editor David Bass‘ articles on Gov. Beverly Perdue’s surprising election announcement and the impact of redistricting on two Republican congressional incumbents. The N.C. Free Enterprise Foundation promoted Bass’ congressional redistricting story. The American Spectator published Bass’ analysis of Perdue’s re-election decision. GeneralBullMoose.com cited CJ coverage while discussing the reasons for Perdue’s departure from the political scene. The News & Observer and other media outlets featured on their websites a FavStocks.com blurb citing a CJ book review of the book Rehabilitating Lochner. An Independent Weekly blog entry about media “objectivity” mentioned Carolina Journal.
