Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton thinks passing a half-cent transit tax is a no-brainer in Orange County. At issue is a $1 billion plus boondoggle of an inflexible rail project that is a mismatch with the Triange’s urban/suburban lifestyle.  He’s already promising a door-to-door grassroots campaign to get out the vote, should the tax end up on the fall ballot  as many think it will. It’s not tough to understand why he’s positively giddy about the prospects of ensuring that the urban elite in Orange County get what they want.
