Roy Carroll pulls his rezoning request for 300 apartments close to PTIA.

Carroll said he’ll keep looking around the airport for residential projects, although the airport authority and economic developers have told him to back off:

Plans for this particular property may have died, but Carroll said he hasn’t stopped looking at airport-area sites for residential projects.

Economic developers said they will evaluate each proposal on a case-by-case basis.

Judging from this first round, the sell might be tough.

“We tried to look for a solution,” Carroll said. “And we were just pretty much told that there was no compromise and that this was a line in the sand and that the economic development community was going to come out in force.

“I think they set out to make an example out of our case.”
