The man who made a living off nuts told folks at American University, “Well I would say that in the year 2000, the country failed abysmally in the presidential election process. There’s no doubt in my mind that Al Gore was elected president.”

This is the same man who practically leaped to announce that the referendum on Hugo Ch?vez was legitimate and that (unlike every other Communist dictator) “Hugo Ch?vez won fair and square.”

If I may quote myself:

The truth is, Carter got jobbed in Venezuela. So he has about as much room to speak authoritatively on detecting “fraudulent or biased electoral practices” as, well, Dan Rather does on detecting forged documents faxed from Kinko’s.
