Former state House Rep. Cary Allred is at it again on the roads and highways of North Carolina. This time he’s been charged with careless and reckless driving, weeks after a citation for driving 102 mph down Interstate 40 —in addition to his drinking and page-hugging —- ultimately led to his resignation.
The article doesn’t mention it, but I’d still be willing to bet Allred wasn’t wearing a seat belt as he cruised around in his 1957 Thunderbird. The bottom line is somebody could get killed with Allred behind the wheel, so he needs to lose his driving privilege for a while.
Seeing mention of Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson did made me think of something else. I wonder if it was any comfort for anti-287(g) activists to see one of Johnson’s deputies pull over an old, white Republican. And wouldn’t you just know it —- Allred claims he’s being targeted.
