The North Carolina Press Association has issued a press release
today saying  it will not sue the University of North Carolina
Board of Governors for violations of the North Carolina Open Meetings
Law during the search process to replace Molly Broad in September.

In a letter by NCPA President Rip Woodin to BOG Chair Brad Wilson, Woodin said the organization along with The News and Observer, The Charlotte Observer,
The Associated Press, and the North Carolina Broadcasters Association
were “deeply troubled” by UNC’s “arrogant refusal to publicly
acknowledge the rather obvious violations.” The violations occured when
search committee members in September voted in executive session to
nominate Erskine Bowles as the system’s next president.
