It is allegedly official, now. US Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC) announced:

If you take every single department except for defense, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, along with the interest we have to pay to other countries now that we didn’t have to pay 10 years ago when we had a surplus — if we cut all other programs completely out — we’d still be operating at a half a trillion dollar deficit almost for the next 10 years.

That’s what folks at conservative think tanks have been allegedly alleging for years and allegedly warning about in decades prior. They only use facts and reason – the stuff that gets gutted from submissions to newspapers, in the interest of protecting delicate minds, of course. However, we can now believe the conclusion because it is stated by a high-ranking elected official. Furthermore, the news comes to us in a 400-word article with nine “he said’s.”

The reason nothing is being done to curb the debt, he said pointing an unidentified finger at his peers, was that Congresscritters are too busy pointing fingers at each other.
