Why does CATS so distrust Mecklenburg County voters to decide the half-cent transit issue come November?

Maybe because CATS leadership has a spotty history of going to the ballot box. Of CATS’ top five execs, North Carolina voter records show only two to be regular voters. CATS honcho Ron Tober and development director John Muth are consistent voters.

Administration manager Dee Pereira has not voted in an odd-year election since 1999.

Communications manager Olaf Kinard evidently lives in Cabarrus County, according to county and state records. They also show Kinard has not voted since 2004 and missed a couple elections before that.

And there is no record of Chief Operations Officer James Zingale voting in North Carolina at all. Zingale did not join CATS until September 2005, however. Nor is it clear if Zingale lives in Mecklenburg. County property records do not indicate any ownership by Zingale.
