Let’s see, says here that the city of Charlotte is going to start aggressively enforcing the two-hour parking limit at meters Uptown. So-called “re-feeding” the meters will get you a $25 ticket starting on Monday.

Now why do that? I thought we were all supposed to head Uptown at every opportunity? Couple things. One, we are being trained to take the train Uptown, not drive a car and park it. And two, this is part of Center City Partners’ “Uptown Retail Strategy.” Meters are supposed to be used for those making short trips Uptown to spend money, not by Uptown employees.

Regular turnover in the two-hour spots means that more people can park and spend more money Uptown. At least that is the grand plan. Stay tuned as the plan smacks into reality.
