What more can you say?

We told you a couple weeks back that CDOT gets whatever it wants. Cut down trees and put in a sidewalk residents don’t want? Check. Bike lanes to nowhere? Check. Ruin Elizabeth Ave.? Check. Destroy East Blvd.? Check. Make war on Uptown parking? Check. Make Charlotte conform to CDOT’s dreams by any means necessary? Big frickin’ check, citizen.

Now — keep secret an NC DOT plan to not destroy the Independence corridor out to East Meck? You betcha.

State officials came to CDOT with a plan not to expressway-ize Independence in the manner that killed the Old Old Coliseum area. CDOT didn’t bother to ask the public, and instead unilaterally turned the “super street” idea down. This decision kept CDOT’s vision of a mass transit dependent corridor the one and only choice for NC DOT.

All you can do is shake your head. And know your enemies. Stay vigilant citizen.
