Anyone else get the sense that North Carolina’s political class was counting on a 14th congressional seat to be added via the 2010 census? I mean counting on it.
At the same time all the usual rah-rah booster clubs have a hard time ‘splaining how NC did not add a seat while Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah, and Washington did. While Florida added two. And Texas four. Could it be that North Carolina is not the very best-est at attracting jobs, investment, and hence population? Why might that be?
Bloated public sector? High marginal income tax rates on small business? Corrupt state and local government? And poor performance and low transparency in all public sectors stopping just short of criminal negligence?
Go ask your congressman. The one you don’t have.
