As previewed today at CarolinaJournal.com, Rep. Marilyn Avila, R-Wake, led a news conference this afternoon promoting legislation to loosen North Carolina’s certificate-of-need restrictions. Two co-sponsors joined Avila for the briefing: Rep. Mickey Michaux, D-Durham, and Rep. Jeff Collins, R-Nash.
The news conference also featured Dr. Matthew Appenzeller, an ophthalmologist with Alamance Eye Center, and Kathy Erickson, practice administrator at Eye Associates of Wilmington, along with Donald Bryson of Americans for Prosperity and Alex Johnson of Generation Opportunity.
