Winston-Salem City Council candidates discussed term limits during last night’s forum at the Rhodes Center. Incumbent Derwin Montgomery’s views have, shall we say, evolved:

Montgomery said that when he first ran for council seat in 2009, he supported term limits. However, as an incumbent, Montgomery said he has changed his position and opposes term limits. Council members should be allowed to continue their work for the city if voters decide to re-elect them, he said.

Admittedly it may be one thing a City Council member’s view on term limits evolving, but totally another for members of Congress…
