At Monday night’s town council meeting during a discussion of a new ordinance to address protests, Chapel Hill Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt admitted why an existing ordinance that governs rules for protests wasn’t enforced against the Occupy squatters. According to the News & Observer story, his admission came after a downtown restaurant owner complained.

Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt agreed, and said he was disappointed that he didn’t fight to enforce the town’s rules on the plaza for the last three months.

“I knew that I didn’t ‘want to see those regulations enforced because I liked the content and that’s a problem,” he said. “… We have to have rules that are irrespective of the content of the message are applied equally to anyone that wants to use that space.”

It’s yet another display of the intolerance and close-mindedness of the Left.
