The N&R reports that all charges against the six Guilford College football players involved in the fight with three Palestinian students who said they were the target of ethnic slurs:

Assistant District Attorney Howard Neumann said the decision stemmed from several factors, including conflicting witness statements.

Witness statements “differ as to how the incident began, how it erupted, who was involved,” Neumann said. “I’m sure everybody feels their account was accurate, but it gives a confusing picture of what went on out there.”

After police interviewed the Palestinian students, it became clear the case wasn’t about ethnic intimidation, Neumann said.

“All three agreed the ethnic slurs began after the fight began,” he said. “A couple of spectators indicated the bad words came from the spectators, somebody leaning over the balcony.”
