Check out the fawning introduction that Duke grad Charlie Rose gives Nazi-loving left-winger architect Philip Johnson. It’s 1:15 into the video that can be seen here. Watch the whole thing to get a flavor of how much of Johnson’s past has been glossed over. For a laugh be sure to watch Susan Sontag’s part, especially here voice over as she goes up the elevator to meet Johnson. If you wanted to spoof left-wing pretentiousness you could just lift her words verbatim.

It’s one thing to forgive someone for some youthful indiscretions, if you can call them that. Rose calls Johnson “one of the people I enjoy the most and whose friendship I cherish,” which is fine. But don’t let the guy off the hook for his dalliance with Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and America’s budding fascist Huey P. Long.

Any Republican who ever belonged to a segregated club in the 1950s still hears about today. But Democrats get a pass, even if they were kleagles.
