While American Airlines has a huge hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), foreign carriers are scarce at the airport. In recent years, only three have operated from CLT: Air Canada, twice a day to Toronto; Lufthansa, with a widebody Airbus A330 or A340 to Munich; and Insel Air to Curaçao on Saturdays. Looks like we can reduce that number to two, as Insel Air cancelled out its flight early this week.
Insel Air’s move isn’t all that surprising as American Airlines launched its own Curaçao – Charlotte flight in December.
