The Charlotte Observer welcomed the members of the National Rifle Association to town with a snarky, smurking editorial:

Because of its robust lobbying and politicking, the NRA has become synonymous, in many eyes, with extreme right-wing Republicans.

The conference schedule does not belie that impression: Speakers include Sarah Palin, Fox entertainer Glenn Beck and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Only where the editorial writers of the Observer sit could Palin or Gingrich be called “extreme right-wing.” If they’d bother to look at the polls, they’d find that most American believe the same things they do. Beck, who has a conspiracy bent, to be sure, is no more of a right-wing extremist than Keith Olbermann is a left-wing extremist.

This kind of editorializing exposes the clichéd MSM editorial-writer view of the world, which is down their noses at everyone who disagrees with them.
